The track was written in absolute solitude in an old farmhouse by the Baltic Sea. Auguri took inspiration from Christopher Knight’s book The Stranger In The Woods, a true story of a man who escaped modern life and chose complete isolation in the forest for twenty-seven years. Taking these thoughts with her through her work, Auguri explores the concept of human bondage, autonomy, and connection with thoughtful philosophy: How much of the cracks inside do you reveal when you step closer to another? What will gurgle to the surface when you get to know each other on a deeper level?
These questions are accompanied on accordion as a drone instrument, layering sound in an avant-garde balancing act between dark folk, poetry, film, and sad pop.

Confession To A Future Lover (radio edit) is the first single from Joanna Gemma Auguris new album 11. How much do you reveal the cracks inside when you step closer to the other one? What will come to the surface when you get to know each other on a deeper level? It is an examination of the balance between autonomy and connection.
Joanna wrote the song in absolute solitude in an old farm house by the baltic sea inspired by Book „The Stranger In The Woods“, the true Story of Christopher Knight, who escaped modern life and chose living alone in the forest for 27 years.
The narrative and timelessness of her songs have echoes of Scott Walkers or Nick Cave's otherworldly atmospheres.
It is an unusual blend of styles, an avant-garde balancing act between dark folk, poetry, film - and sad pop music.
